"And, not surprisingly, 59% of women say they regularly stand in line for the loo, compared with just 11% of men."
I first noticed how bad things are in this respect when I started attending Broadway theater and going to Lincoln Center with my boyfriend in New York City.
At intermission, lines for the ladies room were ridiculously long while lines for the men's were non-existent. I guess the reasons are pretty simple. The men's rooms have a lot more urinals than the ladies rooms have stalls, because urinals take up far less space.
So why aren't there more ladies rooms or larger ladies rooms?
Because when those buildings were designed, architects were always men. I guess it never occurred to them that providing equal space didn't mean they were doing their job right.
So to this day, women worry that they're going to miss the beginning of the second act.
