And maybe start realizing that the idea of the Rapture, of Jesus returning to snatch up his followers bodily into the clouds, is only about 150 years old. It's an innovation, not an ancient tradition.

It's true that Christians have been predicting the second coming of Christ since shortly after Jesus's death. Paul was convinced Jesus would come back during the lifetime of the people he was writing his letters to.

And some people in every Christian generation, in an unbroken chain since Paul's lifetime, have fervently believed Jesus would return before they died.

2,000 years and counting, and the more superstitious fools of the Christian tradition still haven't got the message about how ridiculous they are.
