And if the Pope can’t come to terms with us, Carl Fagerskog — if he’s too evil and calloused to learn to be decent to his fellow human beings, let’s hope the good people of the Catholic Church abandon the the institution in droves.

That’s what the Irish Church organization is suggesting in their statements and petitions.

If the the Church cannot or won’t stand for decency and morality, then the Irish people will no longer associate with the Church.

The Roman Catholic Church is facing a crisis of confidence everywhere in the world where decency reigns. The good people of Quebec fled the Church en masse decades ago, horrified by its evil.

Catholicism has become all but totally irrelevant in France. Churches are deserted and priests have almost no public influence at all. Much of nominally Catholic Europe has gone down that same road.

It looks like Ireland may be next.

I can’t say I would mourn that development, though it would be nicer if the Church would reform itself instead of pushing good, decent people away.
