And if it weren’t for the fact that LGBTQ youth were dying of suicide at shockingly high numbers, and if those deaths weren’t concentrated among youth in Catholic and other conservative religious communities, you’d probably have a point.

But the situation as it stands is intolerable. Catholics and Evangelical leaders are objectively wrong about members of gender and sexual minorities. Their wrong beliefs lead to suffering, oppression, and seriously negative human consequences.

Passively setting examples heals no wounds and saves no lives.
