An interesting point that deserves to be part of the conversation is that actors don't owe anyone their private lives. I'm thinking of Kit Connor, the young actor who rose to fame from his performance in Heartstopper.
Accused both of queer baiting and being a straight actor playing a queer role, he came out as bisexual on Twitter - against his will and with more than a bit of snark directed against his critics.
The snark was deserved. Nobody had a right to know his sexuality.
Not all cases of supposed cis/straight actors playing queer roles fit the Kit Connor narrative, but enough of them do that we need to acknowledge it, in my opinion.
