Amen. I know from years of disappointed experience how allyship is temporary. Marginalized people and causes can often become elevated to moments of fiery national attention.
But always, those moments are brief, flashing to ash like gasoline- soaked hay.
We have to accomplish whatever we can during that brief flash of light, then work hard to ignite the next fire.
And when people ask us to be happy and sing Kumbaya, all we can feel is sad and empty.
But we keep working, we keep fighting, and the next moment WILL come.
Keep the faith, sister.
