I’ve been seeing similar gaslighting with respect to police killings, with people presenting the true but misleading claim that American police kill more white people than black people.

While this is true, it overlooks the fact that many more white people than black people live in the US.

Looked at as a ratio, the deeper truth becomes starkly apparent.

Black people in the US are 36 times more likely to be killed by police than white people. That’s pretty stunning.
