Amen and amen, but it wasn't just the president. Yes, he's absolutely out of touch and deteriorating visibly. I just want to say, though, that I turned CNN on to watch the verdict come in live– angry, saddened, but far from shocked at the outcome. The fix was obviously already in. The verdict was no surprise.

What did shock me were the 2 hours of commentary on CNN after. For 2 hours, talking heads informed the nation that America's jury system and legal system were working just as intended, that everyone should remain calm in the knowledge that justice was being done.

Completely lacking was any sense of outrage or despair about the macro issues involved, the idea that a 17-year-old white boy could walk into a protesting crowd with an assault rifle strapped to his chest, and have cops not only not stop him, but actively support and succor him.

Then Biden spoke, and then my jaw dropped again. His framing was exactly the same: nothing to see here folks, move along.

And I despaired.
