Although today’s media reports have been very limited with information so far, one thing strikes me very clearly. Nobody in the United Methodist Church is calling a bigot a bigot.

Instead bishops are talking about mutual respect. They’re calling for RESPECT for people who scapegoat us and tell us we aren’t worthy to worship with them as equals.

Nobody seems willing to fight. To just tell the assholes who can’t accept LGBTQ equality that they are not welcome among good decent Methodists.

The news stories I’ve read today have left me sick to my stomach. I’m extraordinarily disgusted with United Methodist leadership today. Sick to my stomach and disgusted by their mewling doublespeak and hypocrisy.

But at least we know who our enemies are now. We know exactly who refuses to accept us as equals.

We will recognize those who remain in the bigoted congregations, and we will revile them as the demons that they are. No more sitting on the fence. People are going to have make choices that reveal who they are as moral human beings.

Those who choose the congregations of bigotry and scapegoating will reveal themselves as loathsome and foul.
