Also. Why would Ukraine need a carrier? They have perfectly good, flat terrain all over the country on which to build air strips.

They don't need to project power over oceans. Land-based aircraft in Ukraine can reach all of Ukraine and penetrate effectively into Russian-controlled Crimea, Russia itself, and other nearby territories from which military threats might emerge.

Land-based air operations cost a small fraction of what carrier-based operations cost.

So what would be the purpose of a carrier even if Ukraine could manage to use it? Giving Ukraine squadrons of (relatively) cheap ground-based fighter bombers would have a much bigger practical impact.

And even that has fraught implications for international relations.
