Ah! But that’s the key, and what many people might not understand about meditation. It’s not supposed to be about turning off thoughts that enter your frame of consciousness, but about not attaching to them, about experiencing them, but experiencing them without understanding them as part of “I.” It’s complicated. I meditated for many years, though haven’t in quite a while. I’d recommend it, while cautioning that it’s really not what much pop culture represents it to be.
