Agreed. I think of all the years I spent wearing visible badges of queer identity, and I think of the times I sometimes swallowed hard before going out in public dressed in my Act Up or Queer Nation garb.

I certainly didn't do it because I felt stylish or trendy.

I wasn't making a fashion statement.

So, when cultural queerness reduces to fashion for some people, I feel pretty weird inside.
