Absolutely, Jason Feinberg. Lots of us are introverted, and the stereotypes do us no favors. We used to have more spaces than we have now, and some of them were nice spots to have a warm beverage and sit in a comfy chair.

I’m thinking of The Big Cup on 23rd and 8th in Chelsea back in the 90s and early naughts.

But as the gayborhoods shrink (because fewer of us need them), I guess we lose variety.

Your generation’s big task is going to be figuring out how queer culture works now that we aren’t huddling together out of a sense of urgent self protection.

Quite a challenge!

You should meet my friend, Fred Shirley, by the way — another introverted young queer man with an artistic soul.
