I might add that the rainbow flag she’s flying on her social media is probably more important for her peers than for her relatives. Even in today’s world (and I see it all too often in my inboxes) queer kids are afraid to come out to their peers. Coming out is still a risky proposition sometimes.

Flying that flag lets her peers know she’s safe. And that matters deeply.
