Absolutely! By the time I was serving as an intelligence analyst in West Berlin in the 1980s, this technology was growing and becoming increasingly important to military communications everywhere.

One of our most critical taskings involved using wideband recording technology to capture Soviet frequency-hopping voice communications and data communications. The US intelligence community was in something of a panic over it.

But I didn’t learn from many years who had first proposed the idea.
