Absolutely! In fact, I once wrote a story about the history of the song. I was interested in it, because when I first moved to New York City in 1990, I lived at the McBurney YMCA for a while. They had great weekly rates! And the daily rates were already inexpensive. I also worked out there for years after I settled myself into more ordinary housing.

Members of the Village People have told stories explicitly about how the McBurney YMCA inspired them to write a song about the gay men who loved the place.
