Absolutely! You know, sometimes they're very clear about where they're coming from. I published an article just yesterday about the new Catholic bishop of Columbus, Ohio. Mildly curious the other day, I decided to dig down into his background after I read that Pope Francis had appointed a new leader of the church. What I found was not entirely unexpected but depressing and outraging, anyway. This guy has written quite a lot publicly, and he claims that gay people don't even experience true love. He writes that gay men should not become Catholic priest in part because their vows of celibacy aren't a real sacrifice for them. Because they wouldn't actually be giving anything up that's valuable.

He makes it quite clear that for him being gay is a really terrible thing. And he's not a powerful leader. And that's the kind of shit we have to so constantly deal with.
