A welcome development! Personally, I rarely use self checkout, because I live pretty far out in the country and tend to only go into town for major shopping. I load my cart up with enough stuff for about a month, and it's just way too much work to try to scan it all myself, particularly because self checkout lanes where I shop don't look like they were designed to accommodate large quantities.

Also, jobs are scarce out here. I feel good knowing that my going through the regular checkout helps keep somebody gainfully employed.
