And thanks to Twitter's policy that blue checks rise to the top, the hate and vitriol is pretty much all we see. These days, a blue check on Twitter pretty much means deplorable. By far, the number of people willing to pay for the checkmark are very, very conservative.

Gone are the days when a blue check mark meant that somebody was a verifiable public figure. Now it pretty much just means Elon Musk fan.
