A struggle indeed! The boy in the story, kind of like myself at his age in a similar situation, says he didn't really struggle much. He found rejecting his faith to be empowering and pretty easy to do.

His father didn't have so much of a problem either. Contrary to how these things are imagined to go, the boy's dad was pretty accepting from the get-go.

His mother, however, struggled terribly from about last February to the middle of last summer. It took two suicide attempts before she was finally able to break the chains of her hateful religious beliefs.
