A friend of mine works in customer service at a UK energy company. He spent his days last winter talking to people having to choose between paying for heat and paying for food. To say that he was stressed out is an understatement.

Today, he's beyond grim. He's scared to death of the upcoming winter. Energy price caps for consumers are going up by an effective 75%, so people who couldn't pay their bills last winter are going to be in much worse shape this year, and many more people will be forced to choose between heat and other essentials of life.

What's most frightening to him is that no one in the political class has any practical solution to offer, other than (literally) to throw on an extra jumper.

The ruling class are wealthy, and they sure are pontificating about the British stiff upper lip — even though their London flats will be fully heated.

A political revolution is brewing.
