A constant theme I heard from Evangelical pulpits in my youth was that education was one of the greatest stumbling blocks to salvation.

They say that without the slightest bit of self-awareness. They tend to be quite uneducated and ignorant, and they prefer that others remain the same. Because being uneducated and ignorant is key to the sort of faith they're talking about. That sort of faith only works for fools.
